Old Sheffield Trams

Of them old Sheffield tram cars we’d quite often talk,
How it was usually quicker to walk,
We were passed by a woman a ‘pushing her pram
In an old Sheffield tram.

Chorus:
Don’t bring them there blooming things back, clang clang,
Don’t bring them there blooming things back, clang clang,
Look nice in’t museum on a quarter mile track,
But don’t bring them there blooming things back.

They’d save you a walk but they weren’t very quick,
You could ride all day for just one and a kick
But if you did you’d be violently sick,
In an old Sheffield tram.

They’d bang and they’d clatter away we'd all roll
With a weight that would shatter right down to your soul,
Long before Elvis we had rock and roll
In an old Sheffield tram.

You were stuck behind t’rag man, it was such a bore,
You were stuck on the Wicker and stuck on the Moor
You were stuck down at Tinsley and stuck up at Dore
In an old Sheffield tram.

Then in 1960 the council decide,
It was finally time just to take one last ride,
We rode on our journey with tears in our eyes
In an old Sheffield tram.
